Trade 2 13W6V2's for 2 W15Gti's?

Like the tittle says. I just order 2 JL's 13w6 (pretty cheap) but for the same price I could have gotten 2 JBL's W15GTI. I could trade my JL's for the JBL's that's not a problem. SQ wise IMO you don't get much better for the $ I paid. Now my ? is wich set will give me the most SPL. I got a Crossfire XP2400d and a XP1400d. I really want to use the XP1400d for it's efficience. I'll be using the JL's in a sealed box (about 1.28 cu ft per sub). The JBL's would be put in a similar size sealed box. I want to know if the 13.5" JL's will hit as hard or similar to the 15" JBL's. Thanks

go ported,

a sealed box cant get as loud as a ported-you said you are looking for SPL??

having 2-13.5 subs should allow you to get pretty loud, but I dont think they are meant for SPL.

if you regret buying the JL's send them back.

JBL's are really nice sounding sub, but why not look around some.

what about Audioque,FI,SSA,DD,etc....

Please stop with your misinformation. Sure a sealed box can be just as efficient as a ported box, build the ported box incorrectly and it's a pretty simple feat to accomplish.

The OP never said he was going to compete, just that he wants loud, and in that case it's really hard to overlook displacement. Which I don't know for certain but I would guess that the JBLs have a higher potential displacement than the JLs, which means they have the potential for higher output levels.

What makes those companies any better than what the OP is looking at?

Have you heard an JBL's ???he said SPL, not loud.

yes a sealed box can be or get loud, but a port or bandpass or even passive radiator will be louder then most or any sealed boxes

*******
The jbls are very nice woofers, sound great, and have good output. No doubt about it, I prefer the jbls over the w6s, and any other sub company mentioned in this thread so far as far as sq, and good output is concerned... I would make the trade asap.

What does hearing them have to do with potential output? I don't have to listen to them to see that more displacement in a sealed enclosure means a higher potential output, there's no two ways about that.

Thank you for being so mature during this discussion too, very helpful.

^^^maybe you should read his post again!!

He wants to put a JL 13.5w6v2 in a sealed 1.28 cubit foot box, & he wants loud???

2-JBL W15gti in it own 1.28 sealed box & will it be loud???no

The guy wants SPL from a small sealed box! not going to happen.

He has 2 Crossfire amp (1-Xp2400d@1ohm stable&1- Xp1400d@1ohm stable)

The guy bought the JL's & he wants to know if the JL's will hit as hard as the JBL's,NO

sealed or ported.

So for him to acheive his goal i think there are other subs out there that can or will match up to amp loads & still get louder & it harder then the JL's

So, because you don't think it will be "loud" then obviously he's the misguided one? Gotcha.

Just like ''sound quality'' is relative ''loud'' is relative too, granted it is quantifiable but in this situation I don't see him being the competition type.

The Gtis actually work very well in a 1.5 cubic foot enclosure, but because it isn't ported then it can't get ''loud?''

Stop confusing your interpretation of SPL for his, apparently they are two very different views. Just because you don't agree with it, definitely does not make you correct.

Of course there are other speakers that will do the job, but how many will do the job with his qualifications? Would a BL, HDC, 9500 work for a loud daily driven stereo? Of course they would. But, would they work in the 1.25-1.5 cubic foot sealed enclosure he's willing to use? Don't count on it. However, the Wgti again works VERY well in that sized sealed enclosure.

no you are trying to confuse things.

the guy stated he has a sealed 1.28cu.ft. box, not a 1.5.

now if he would of said he was buying a JBL & rebuilting a box, then things would be different.

I have played with both subs so im saying this from experince not something i've read.

the guy seem to want to know if his JL's will pound hard as the JBL's & the answer is no

even the Jl's work better in bigger box.

both JL & JBL's can be manipulated to work in much bigger sealed boxes.

Not at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

He actually said the JBLs would be used a similar sized box, not "the same box."

I'm not either believe me. I try to paintboth sides of the picture without personal bias so they can make an informed decision on their own. Yes I know what I would do but he doesn't care about that, I want to give someone enough information where they can do that by himself.
