trade 12w7 for 10w7?

I was considering trading my 12w7 for a 10w7. My sub is in great condition and so is the 10w7 I'm thinking about trading for. Is $75 on top a decent amount? Is there a big diffference in output between the 10 vs 12? I'm trying to get a clean SQ; loudness isn't a priority. Would you guys do the trade?

Why would you trade for a smaller driver... and what makes you think the 10 is going to have any better SQ than the 12?

there is no sence in going to a smaller sub to get better quality, just turn ur gain down a bit if it's too loud and it will give you better quality

The 12W7 is quite abit more sub than the 10W7. And like suggested above, having headroom in th output department can only lead to better sound quality not worse, so long as you adjust it properly.

I actually bought the 12w7 but haven't actually played it yet. I was thinking about trading for the 10 and then sell it. Would 2 10w6v2 be as good or should I just stick with the 12w7? I used to have one eclipse 8" aluminum and it was almost loud enough for me.

Just sell the 12W7 then. No sense in trading for and selling the 10W7. You can probably sell the 12 for at least $75 more than the 10, so why go through the trouble?

And for the other question, 2 10W6v2s would do quite nicely.

Heard the 10 and 12w7 head to head (different boxes: 10 was in the prowedge, 12 was in a sealed box built to specs). Big difference, the 12w7 sounded so much nicer.

I've read around here that there are a few subs out there that can at least rival the w7s but at a lower price. I might just try out the TC or something less mainstream than JL. What subs do you guys favor over the W7?

Grossly different boxes (sealed vs ported) mean that's not a good comparison.

If you're in the market for a 10, check out the TC10 OEM. Beautiful woofer, and they're supposed to be really nice. Only $175 shipped. Plus, you can get a matching passive radiator for more output in a small package.
