Some animals like to play with their food before they kill it.this guys not banned yet?
that is not correct.. 400 watts is their recomended thermal rateing... they are in a oversized box lowering mechanical handleing and the JL amp can put out more than 1000 watts with my high voltage input... it may be clipping, but not bad enough that it effects the output dramatically (to my ears).... so i have them powered about right actually... maby 50 watts under, eachYou have 5 different subs, only 4 of which match eachother and they're all running on less than half their recommended power. Great idea.
75%? no no no... it has been said on here that a bottom-line alpine 1000 watts amp could be putting out 50% more than rated output by excessive gains with a larger input voltage... but probably causeing clipping....haha you think that JL is putting out 75% more power?
5-10 maybe.
You find it hard to believe because you don't understand what power is nor where it comes from. You also don't know how amp distortion levels are rated.i find it very hard to believe that an amp with such a low distortion rateing would be clipping so much that it is unbearable... now lets go further saying that they are underated by 10%... that would be 1100 watts... with over-set gains i should be reaching 1600 no prob.
Umm... the larger the enclosure, the LESS emphasized the upper and midbass regions are. The SMALLER the enclosure, the less low end and more upper end bass you will receive.by box is oversized by almost a full cube allowing me to reach max excursion with the lower power supply at the loss of some of the flat response of the speaker...
but actually it's to my benefit as it emphasises the frequencies more toward the mid-bass which was my goal from the beginning, leaving the lows to the 13 which is in an undersized box which is why i want the 1000/1 for it instead of the 500/1... it might be over-kill but the 500 isn't enough in order to maintain a relativly flat responce

I would have to agree with the above. You find it hard to believe because you don't understand what power is nor where it comes from. You also don't know how amp distortion levels are rated.
