Both are good quality tools no doubt, but what are their differences? Do either have any strengths/weaknesses that the other doesn't? I always leaned towards dewalt but i bought an 18v cordless bosch drill and its pretty solid. I'd just like to hear peoples experiences with both...

I have a 18v dewalt and it rocks, I feel that dewalt is much more contractor orieneted and most bosh is for home use, of course Bosch has some good contractor level products but thats my opinion...

I think either one would be a good choice. The only dewalt product my dad has is a 12" chop saw but he has a few Bosch items. I got a dewalt corded drill and it is pretty good, well built nice weight and the keyless chuck is pretty nice. Dad has a sweet bosch table saw and a big hammer drill for drilling concrete and such. I know I see a lot more dewalt drills though so I would lean that way.

Me to yo, dewalt is my favorite brand and most of my tools are dewalt.

i just feel like one of those "omg JL audio is the greatest" people when i automatically lean towards dewalt. i was gonna pick up a compact 18v dewalt cordless drill but the bosch boasted a metal gearbox while i couldnt find anything on the dewalt. on top of that the bosch was a tad cheaper.

I've always tended to lean towards DeWalt as well, but the one thing I don't like is their saws (reciprocating, jigs, etc.) Just something about the feel of them I wasn't liking.

IMO, Don't just follow a brand name, go with what feels best (to an extent, don't just buy the cheapest and whatnot if you know performance will be diminished)

Bosch stuff is much higher quality than Dewalt on nearly everything except saws. I am a contractor and probably own in excess of $20K in tools, and I use the shit out of them daily....so there is some experience to base my opinion on.

Bosch hands down makes the best jig saw. Period.

Drills, depends on for what. For heavy duty big stuff, 18v HC Ridgid hands down. Or Dewalt.

For light weight, daily car installs. Makita or Hitatchi.

Circular saw, porter cable.

Router, handheld ridgid. Table porter cable.

It all really depends, I love my ridgid tool sets though, and LIFETIME WARRANTY. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

craftsman 18v that was on sale for $39.99 with a spare battery and charger and bag ... enough for me, 1 hour charger, batteries dont last for crap but they charge so fast it don't matter.

cheap, it's got 4 years of construction use on it thru school ... now it's not seeing much but it's been beat to hell and back.

rest of our stuff is mostly milwaukee, love 'em but they are expensive ... new stuff not as good as old milwaukee //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
