I stumbled upon Tool's discography, and it's one of those bands I'd always suspected I'd like, but never listened to them. Well, now I have the chance to listen to all I please.

I've listened to Aenemia and Salival, and honestly I'm not really impressed. I mean it's good, but everyone on here I've ever heard talk about them is like "ZOMG BEST EVAR MUSIC!!!11!"

What are some of their better tracks and albums? This seems like a band it would be good to be fond of. I'm the type to judge on the first listen whether I like something or not, and so far, this hasn't done much for me.

Also, TOOL isn't a for everyone. Not everybody likes them, which is cool.

But part of what makes them, to me, a great band is not just the music...but also the content and complexity of the lyrics, and how the music itself relates to the lyrics.

Anybody can make radio pop music that "sounds good"......but it's much more challenging to make lyrically and musically complex music that also sounds good. And it's this that TOOL excels at.

Well I like a number of bands that are similar, lyrically and musically. For example, I really enjoy Project 86, they're somewhat similar musically, and their lyrics are probably ideologically the opposite of Tools in many ways. I also enjoy A Perfect Circle, which I understand is Tool's cousin. On a heavier end, I like Demon Hunter and on the lighter end, I like Muse. So, Tool seems like it would be right up my alley.

I have listened to the first couple tracks of Lateralus and I'm enjoying it much more than the others I've listened to.

I prefer to listen to A Perfect Circle but i'd say my fav tool album is 10,000 days.

Salival isn't really an album. Their discography consists of Opiate, Aenima, Undertow, Lateralus and 10,000 days. For me it's hard to pick a favorite album, if I had to choose I would say Undertow or Lateralus. I would agree that anyone new to Tool should check out Lateralus first.

Head to youtube and watch the videos for Lateralus and Parabol/Parabola

10,000 days has a 3 tracks that were radio-friendly as well...

I can't wait to see them in August at Lollapalooza!
