So yesterday the word goes around town someone was shot at mcdonalds. Then slightly later I hear it was a really good friend of mine but no other details.Today we found out it was a gunshot to the head and he will be kept alive long enough so his organs can be used (I guess he was an organ donor). It's still hard to believe. RIP man.

A 25-year-old Fort Morgan man was in critical condition this morning after he was shot Tuesday evening in the parking lot of McDonald’s in Fort Morgan.
Police were dispatched about 6:10 p.m. to a call of a shooting at the restaurant at Main Street and Riverview Avenue. Officers found Jeremy Alan Bornmann in a parked car outside McDonald’s with a gunshot wound.

He was immediately taken to Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan and later flown to Denver General Hospital, Fort Morgan Police Chief Keith Kuretich. Bornmann’s condition was still reported as critical late Wednesday morning, Kuretich said.

A juvenile and two other adults were in the car when police were called, he said, but the officers made no arrests. All passengers were from the Fort Morgan area, he said.

The three passengers were interviewed and released, Kuretich said, and no other parties were directly involved.

Though police are still investigating the shooting, he said, “there’s no indication that the incident was gang-related.”

Kuretich would not speculate whether the shot was self-inflicted.

“Until we get further into our investigation, I wouldn’t want to allude to any particular matter when we’re not sure at this time,” he said.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado State Patrol are assisting the Fort Morgan Police Department in the investigation.

The last reported shooting in Fort Morgan was on Oct. 28, 2006, Kuretich said. In that case, Marion Duckworth was charged with second-degree murder for the death of Weston King.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It's still really weird thinking about it. It took a little bit for it to sink in that it actually happened.

As for how it happened is unknown.And from what we know there's quite a bit that doesn't add up. I'm not really counting on our po-dunk city police to really find out what happened. Right now there are just a bunch of different stories going around. Time may tell the truth, maybe not.
