Today I Became a Dee Dee Dee

See, comments like the two above are why I'm not sending to kbaudio. I've heard nothin but good stuff about the others mentioned but kbaudio gets mixed reviews. that certainly shows they dont have a high success rate as far as fixing the amps which isnt the best sort of news to hear.

I sent a goliath to CIA engineering because they are the authorised repair center for maxxsonics. They stole the screws from the amp, the amp came back with the same shit problems. I called maxxsonics and they sent me to another repair center in CA, thats even worse!

You can try Steven Mantz, hes a great guy. Just his prices are high, but he will do probably the best repair job you can ask for
And how would I contact Steven? What company does he work for? But you said you sent to CIA and you had the same problems, wouldnt that then be covered by their warranty?

frying amps ****ing sucks
been there

done that

lameness.........
Yeah, especially when the amp is worth somethin....back when I had a PT amp i could care less. I was like eh, its a PT, it was bound to happen. Where did you get yours fixed at?

Grrr..i get a good quote at CIA, i hear theyre good. and i hear great stuff about ARC..i think i'll go with ARC even though they may be a bit more expensive. reason being one ref here that sent the same amp and another previous member sent same amp there. ill give em a call now cos i havent gotten a response through email

when i recieved my treo 1500.1 it was fried as well, took it to local guy and had it fixed for right around 100 bux, for the power supply. once he got it back up and working he told me that its in his top 3 of amps now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. he loved the amp and even with no sub hooked up it draws 3 amps, soi its a little power hungry. anyway, get it fixed so you can use the beast //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah man i cant wait. I'm still gonna go down to san diego which is a couple hours from me and have my buddy help me out with the enclosure for the DD 9515. He's built many enclosures before but he wants to try fiberglassin so we're gonna work on an enclosure for my dd and his brahma MKI. I plan to get the amp back within a month and just wire it up. I dont know exactly what I'll hit but I'm planning on close to 150 since they guy i got it from had a 1 cubic foot smaller box than im gonna have built and 1000w rms less. he had it in a civic with a 3.8 cubic foot box with two crossfire 1000w amps with stock alt in an '00 civic and yellow optima and hit 147.3 (im not 100% sure what mic but i'm assuming the TL). ill be using stock alt in my accord as well but ill have a kinetik hc 1400 so hopefully those numbers will be promising.

Well I just got my Treo SSX 1500.1 and I was so **** happy. I decided to hook it up in my bro's car to test it out on my Orion H2 (and later fry an Infinity Kappa 6x9 free air style). Well the only thing that fried was the amp. It has dual power supplies and I had the power and ground connected and one of the remote wires connected, it was on because I heard it come on and the LED turned a cool blue, haha...so then i get the other remote wire and hook it up to the second remote terminal and immediately a spark. I thought nothin of it (first mistake), and no more than 20 seconds later the amp starts smoking. I then hear the amp shut off and see the amp's LED turn off. I rip out the remote wire and while saddened and worried i run inside grab some scissors and cut off all the wires. I see nothin burned and thought Id give it another try. I wire the ground, and alot more smoke...great, now im totally screwed. I go to a local car audio shop and ask the guy if they do repairs. He tells me know and that the amp is not worth fixing...first off, what a dumb douche. I seriously wanted to kick him in the nuts and tell him this isnt some p.o.s. audiobahn amp, I highly think he doesnt have a clue or has never even heard of Treo. So I emailed Treo, but lookin at previous posts I'm probably not gonna be able to get an estimate from them and thats a problem because I need to know amount before I can even spend anything. I don't wanna go to kbaudio because of what I have heard, good and bad, but ive heard of others and rather go in that direction. So.....i got two questions. What typically would be a max cost of getting a repair on this amp, and also how would you rate the following sites for amp repair?
1. CIA Engineering (http://ciaengineering.com/index.htm)

2. Amp Repair Center (http://www.amprepaircenter.com/)

3. Audiotekx (http://www.audiotekx.com)

Any help is GREATLY appreciated....PS, what sucks is that i was gonna hook it up to my DD 9515d next week in a custom f'glassed enclosure..at least now there's more time to work on that rather than get it done in a day.

So why did the amp fry? If it has two remote turn ons and you hooked a remote turn on lead to both why would it start to smoke? I've never had an amp with dual power supplies. Sounds like something shorted?

How much did this amp cost you? Don't see a price listing on their site.

Well I'm having a hard time gettin a hold of Amp Repair Center. I have called several times and nobody pics up. I've left a voice mail and havne't gotten a call back. I sent one email a couple days ago and never got anything back so I sent another message just now. They do say on their site that all e-mails will be returned in one business day. Anybody that dealt with them have any problems getting in contact? I just wanna speak to them before I send my amp in and I'd like to do it as soon as possible.

I got it for 400 shipped from a guy on on the sounddomain classifieds...what i believe happened is that one of is for the remote in and the other is the remote out

Gotcha. I've never had an amp that had a remote out; now I'll know what to avoid. Thanks.

Sorry to hear the news about your amp. That has to be one of your worst days of the year.
