Well I just got my Treo SSX 1500.1 and I was so **** happy. I decided to hook it up in my bro's car to test it out on my Orion H2 (and later fry an Infinity Kappa 6x9 free air style). Well the only thing that fried was the amp. It has dual power supplies and I had the power and ground connected and one of the remote wires connected, it was on because I heard it come on and the LED turned a cool blue, haha...so then i get the other remote wire and hook it up to the second remote terminal and immediately a spark. I thought nothin of it (first mistake), and no more than 20 seconds later the amp starts smoking. I then hear the amp shut off and see the amp's LED turn off. I rip out the remote wire and while saddened and worried i run inside grab some scissors and cut off all the wires. I see nothin burned and thought Id give it another try. I wire the ground, and alot more smoke...great, now im totally screwed. I go to a local car audio shop and ask the guy if they do repairs. He tells me know and that the amp is not worth fixing...first off, what a dumb douche. I seriously wanted to kick him in the nuts and tell him this isnt some p.o.s. audiobahn amp, I highly think he doesnt have a clue or has never even heard of Treo. So I emailed Treo, but lookin at previous posts I'm probably not gonna be able to get an estimate from them and thats a problem because I need to know amount before I can even spend anything. I don't wanna go to kbaudio because of what I have heard, good and bad, but ive heard of others and rather go in that direction. So.....i got two questions. What typically would be a max cost of getting a repair on this amp, and also how would you rate the following sites for amp repair?

1. CIA Engineering (http://ciaengineering.com/index.htm)

2. Amp Repair Center (http://www.amprepaircenter.com/)

3. Audiotekx (http://www.audiotekx.com)

Any help is GREATLY appreciated....PS, what sucks is that i was gonna hook it up to my DD 9515d next week in a custom f'glassed enclosure..at least now there's more time to work on that rather than get it done in a day.

Sent mine in to amprepaircenter estimate is 195. Only sent it to them because they had previously fixed one before from another member of this forum. Other then that i was going to go through cia engineering.

I believe Kbaudio has had experience with this particular amp, but have read lots of bad reviews recently.

I also talked to audiotekx, but they never fixed this amp before.

so its up to you

but if can wait till i get back my amp and i'll let you know how it is.

Nice, I just sent you a PM about it so you can disregaurd that. Shoot, 195 would work for me, I just dont anything above 250. Do you know how long the process is from sending the amp to getting it back? Also when do you expect yours to come back?

Thats just an estimate i've sent my amp in for about a week still waiting for them to call me back when they get it fixed so it should be back about next week maybe. I have also talked to them couple times they are pretty nice.

Alright cool, sounds good. I sent Treo a message, but I'm probably gonna get the same response from Wayne as you. I've heard great things about kbaudio, and also negative, but i dont wanna chance anything negative. Hopefully its no more or not much more than 195. What did they say was wrong with yours or do you already know?

mostlikely, but if not i can also have it tested w/ bnib destroyer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I just got off the phone with CIA and they said they have worked with this particular amp and the guy said they have. He also gave quite a good price, he said the MOST they have ever charged was 185 and that was for an Autotek MX5000. Decisions are so d@mn tough to make, I'd really like to get this thing sent in already. I'll wait to get a response from Treo and amp repair center.

when i read this title i thought you got breast implants

kbaudio does ****. i bought an amp from a member here who sent it to kb first. i sent the amp to the manufactor who then called me and asked who worked on it, cause they put on the wrong parts and totally ****ed the whole board
