To buy the Alpine IVA-W205 or not

Well I really want a nice double din screen in my honda and I will be going active eventually. So I thought the w205 would be perfect for me, until I saw the w505 coming out later this spring. The stock hu is pretty horrible and im sure I can resell the w205, but I would probably loose 200 bucks or so on it. thoughts?

I can get the w205 through online car stereo for 679 shipped.

I've got one, and like it alot!! I don't think that the w505 will be out for a while!! The specs look good, but I won't switch due to the lack of optical output.

lol yea, but

1) its not brand new in the box

2) ipod cable is useless

3) pac is only 20 bucks

Id rather buy new than save 40-50 bucks, but thats just me

Whoa whoa whoa. Are you certain? No optical output? Loos like I'll be keeping my 205. I really like the full 7" screen on the 505 though. Dangit, Alpine!

Okay, not sure where you heard that. It was just another case of bad information being passed along, though.

According to Alpine, the W505 does have an optical output.

To add to the thread though, go with the 505! Just wish Alpine didn't switch everything over to their blue lighting...or they would go back to the changeable color like they used to have for their HUs.

Are you sure? I think it's just "Imprint ready", which means you still have to buy the module.

My alpine rep (who's an @ss by the way) says no 505 shipping until the end of the year. I think i would wait until it is available and then buy the 205. I think you could get a hell of a deal after the new unit is out.

I really haven't look into the 505 so you might be right but I was looking up info on the PXA-100 and saw this:

According to Alpine this is the same audio processor for the upcoming IVA-W505.

I think they mean that it's the same processor you would use with the 505 for Imprint purposes.

It should also work just fine with the H701.

I'm just stoked about the 7" screen. It's about time that Alpine got rid of the ugly, thick side bars on their double-din.
