I'm about to register for college and need some input on what you think of these classes and what my job oportunities will be when I get out. i was thinking of taking the following course: Information technology technician. these are the classes in this course:

Beginning PC Repair 3

Advanced PC Repair 3

Windows XP Professional 3

Network+ 3

Microsoft Windows 2003 Server 3

Cisco Router Technology 3

Cisco Advanced Router Technology 3

I would eventually like to end up doing cisco work since the money seems to be good. These are the courses available at the school. what do you think?

I don't understand what you are asking us? You can be a helpdesk person, pc repair person, network person, windows admins etc.

Chances are you are still going to need to get your foot in the door as some level 1 tech though and move your way up the latter.

Experience in IT > Classes taken on IT

Yeah if you want to do Cisco stuff you need to get your CCNA. They make decent money, I did some Cisco stuff in school, shit was to boring for me lol.

Seems kind of weird to me that you want to go into the IT field but have no previous experience. Most people that get into IT like doing that kind of stuff before hand.

Yeah if you expect to get an IT job you should start looking now for at least a part time Tech job. It's already been said but in the IT field certs and experience go further then schooling.

EDIT: damn I wasted my 3000th post on that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

well **** i don't know anything bout IT. just didnt know if there was a better route i could take
IMO you are already behind.

Kind of hard to explain, but IT/COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE should be in your blood if you plan to succed in the profession.

Well, that is if you're going to be any good at it. Ive seen people in the IT field that skate by pretty well and mostly dont know shit.

Ditch the PC repair if you already know it. Focus more on the networking and Windows server stuff.

it sounds like a decent plan but if you were going to go for schooling I would go for at least a AA degree.Make sure you get a A+ cert so you can get your foot in the door as a PC Tech.Cisco money is good just make sure its something you would enjoy, I honestly prefer more of a MCSE route. Both have potential to make good money.

Those people get found out sooner or later tho. Same with the the guys that cram for cert tests and don't actually learn shit, but hey they have 20 certs! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Retards

Maybe thats what I should do, just cram and pump out cert tests. Then i'll be super-duper-IT-guy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
