100k miles = the devil

Ever since my car has hit 100k, bad things won't stop happening.

1st.

Terrible engine tick.

Didn't drive for a week.

36 bucks and 5 later and he only fixed the "check engine light"

But no more mystery engine tick....

2nd.

Brakes are supposidly messed up but after remvoing the when, two bolts are missing...hmm.

I get rear ended within a week of getting my car back w/ working brakes...

160k ford explorer, nothing but oil changes, spark plugs, filters. they get 19-20mpg highway brand new in 1998...i still get 19-20mpg highway after 160k, no burning oil no nothing. ford makes solid engines. its their automatic ******'s you gotta be careful with. mines a stick so what do i care.

Shit mine is a 99 and i barely get 17-18 MPG. And I have a 5spd. But I take care of it. The end is coming for the ranger. I can see it allready.

yes the new rangers get worse gas mileage. my friend bought one and it got worse mileage than my explorer.

the only way i see the end coming for the ranger is if whoever you got it from didnt maintain it. if you bought it brand new and maintained it since day one, youll be fine (save any problems that were accidentally engineered into the car, example: gm's fuel injectors in vortec engines, fords auto *****, dodges neons head gaskets whose only known fix is double gasketing the **** thing! etc etc.)

if your car is known to not have any common problems, maintain it and your golden.
