tire shelf life

I might be able to get a set of rims mounted on tires already, but I'm told they've been sitting in storage since 1999 (8 years). He says they've been wrapped up the entire time & everything looks brand new. The tires have less than 1000 miles on them. Would anybody happen to know if the tires are still good after all this time?

Thats a long time, so my question to him would be, why so long in storage? Might be a bent rim, so look for that or something cracked, dry rotted tires? Just inspect them to the high hills and if they look good then snatch them up.

i had some goodyear tires in storage for 2 years and they got dried out and they cracked just look good at everything test drive them 1st

My mothers the general manager at a tire shop, she said no.
