tinting the tails

how shall i do this? spray or actual tint? for the tint, i was going to buy pre-cut on ebay. keep in mind that I have never done this before.

They make plastic tint that velcros on but they are illegal where I stay.

What car do you have? If you post a pic I can chop it for you to see if you like it. I would only paint if you have an extra set to swap out when you get a ticket for it...

I got mine painted and I love them. I am assuming though your red break lights will show through alot better though through tint film since its just one layer as oppose to mine has about 6 layers of paint. still shines through like a charm though. Ive had them for 4 months with no tickets. But if i get one i know that spare tails for explorers are like 80 bucks a set but for those BMW im sure there alot more pricey heres mine

ya for like BMWs the taillights are over $100. If i get the tint it will probably be like 20% or 30%. but nice job on yours.

Supposedly you can use model paint to do it...

Around here, a lot of people get them done by getting them sprayed with clear coat + a little black in it.

there is a spray paint that is "smoke" colored that you use, then spray clear over it. There is a walkthrough on a website i can link if you would like.

there is this stuff called night shade.. spray on tint it works' good but for the price:crap:.. i just do a gloss black spray paint, light coat's till i get the desired look.. works great allso do a light scuff on the tailights before you spray tint them.. keep's it from flakeing..

This is how most people do it, with the clear parts taped off:

I'll do another one with the middle clear part tinted, and then I'll do another one with the whole light tinted for you...

And you should really consider de-badging your car. I can do that for you too...
