Tinsel Slap

Hey there everyone.

What does Tinsel Slap sound like? I think one of my xxx 15's is making a strange noise, and it might be tinsel slap.

The noise sounds like the rear deck is vibrating, but it's comming from my right xxx!

It's newly reconed , so it might be the suspension!

Has anyone had experience with this?

its possible, its an annoying noise...

i heard a small felt pad works good where its hitting, but make sure someone confirms that before i mislead you

if they arent stiched (im not sure if they are) its a high possiblity

I believe RE uses a small felt pad on the bottom of the cone around where the tinsel lead enters, it might have gotten left off when it was reconed.

just a sugg.

DC sound lab uses soft felt like stuff on the lvl-3 15's I have

The felt pads r there, I did the recone myself, so it's not the pads. The leads were a little long when I soldered them

But it's a strange noise

It sounds like the rear deck Is shaking, but when I put my ear up to the sub, the rattle comes from within the box!

play sub freeair at low vol out of the box. i am guessing it is 05 or older xxx?

sure the speaker wires arent hitting anywhre in the box?

you can use silicone glue to glue the lead down to the spider. it works very well.

I guess I'll have to take the box out and free air it some more!

It's a ***** to take out, fun times!
