Okay, so I installed my buddy's amp and 2 memphis M-Class 12's in a box I built a while back. I call it "big nasty" cuz its big (for a car), ported, and not exactly the miss america of boxes. So for the past month or two theyve been hitting real hard and vibrating that poor chevy to death, and he's driving me to work cuz my car isnt done yet. About halfway there we notice the subs arent hitting like before, and are completely missing any bass above 60hz. My first thought:eek:ne blew. We pull up where I work and pop the trunk and tell him to turn up the subs. Everything seems fine at first until a large, low note hits and I see something amazing: the left sub is jumping OUT OF THE BOX! I was like wtf, did that just happen? Upon further inspection it seems as though 4 of the screw heads broke off, and the other 4 were ripped from the box entirely. First time Ive seen that happen.

Time for hurricane huts I suppose.

time for a better box build, and some non-kitchen drawer screws.
They werent. Ive been using these screws for the last couple years with no problem. I think theyre deck screws or drywall screws or something. Pretty beefy for holding subs in. Maybe the box flexes enough to let it happen. Time to reinforce it.. again... I never thought these subs would do much.
