No, I wouldn't buy a head-unit without time alignment. Inter-aural Arrival/Time Differences provide key localization cues in the midrange frequencies; these are best solved physically (ie. with an appropriate installation) but are often practically resolved with electronic manipulation (ie. time alignment).
