Time Alignment T/A Delay, etc.

My mids and tweets are in the corners of my dashboard. Mid-basses are halfway up the doors.
Since I don't have a mic or any kind of tuning equipment, I just adjust by ear. My Eclipse 8455 lets you adjust each speaker by the millisecond. I've found that as you adjust it, the sound stage "moves" across the dash. The mids are by far the most sensitive, so I adjust those until I hear them coming from the center of the dash and then adjust the tweeters to the same level, since they are right next to each other. The tweeters are crossed over at 4khz, but T/A does make a slightly audible difference on them as well.

As for the midbasses, I can't notice any audible difference with T/A (probably due to their very narrow frequency range), so I've just left them equaled.
a 3-way frontstage +sub with a 3way xover network single din HU?
anyhow, have you checked how your tweets sound/image with the midranges off? Since you just adjusted them according to the midranges, and you noticed that midranges are affect much more, they setting for the midrange might not be ideal for the tweets.
I found that some vocals do go through my midbass speakers. Play a song that has a deep male voice in it and turn you midrange speakers off and see if it's worth t/a'ing or not. My midbass go up to 200hz but even at around 160hz I was able to hear a little vocalization. I currently have a set of MB Quart PCE-213's in my kicks in a coaxial setup and so far I think it sounds really good. I tried pointing them as on axis and firing up towards the ear as I could. I have a pretty good soundstage (width and height) although I would like to bi-amp the comps to get a little better control over the tweets, they're not aligned with the mids as I would like them to be but I only have an alpine 9887 to use for tuning. I wish I could make my stage a little higher as well (like my previous setups) but I wanted to simplify my setup so it's a trade off and as long as it's above my dash it'll work for me.

wow, you make it seem soooo easy. one step procedure and its DONE?
for time correction, yes. If you can get your time correction done that helps fix alot of the phasing issues as well so I do that before any eqing as that introduces phase shifts. I usually run pink noise as it's easy to get centered and gives you a realistic viewpoint of where you vocals will end up without being distracted by actual music.

I was in the process of switching my comps to bi-amp and adjusting the t/a when I blew my amp.....sad stuff
That is sad stuff. Next time, make sure all the jumpers on the passives are where they should be before moving forward.
