So im wanting to set up a mini LAN type deal, and i have a couple comps im gonna attempt to use for this. Mainly will be playing old school games like BF1942, C&C, Counter strike, ghost recon, etc. Ive got a bunch of older hp pavillion 510 computers im gonna build up a little and use those. I got a steal on vid cards i ordered for them and im trying to order ram now. I know they take the Old SD style ram, but im not sure what i should order? 512 will be good im sure as ive ran it fine with just 256 before. But some auctions say make sure the mobo supports 512 in one slot? Ive been out of the comp scene for a while so im just trying to get my skills back up. Sortof noobed out now i guess

thinking about a few of these for ram? PC133 sounds like its gonna be what i need. Not sure though

only way you can tell is through the specs on the motherboard

might be 256mb per slot max

but um ya pc133 will clock down to pc100 or pc66

im just gonna get 2 256 chips for each board and say **** it. I dont know the model or anything, but from the factory they came with a 128 in each slot.

you may also want to be concerned about low and high density, i.e. 32x64 and 64x64 modules

see if you can tell from the ram already in them

either way each 256mb stick should cost you $10-15 each at most

What do you mean by low and high density? It was only 12$ so if it works it works, if not no biggie.

I have had a problem with older computers and memory. Some will take DS (dual sided) and some will only take SS(single sided). Of course, that is 512mb or higher and with 256 u should be safe. It is also a good idea to use the same chips/manufacturer in both slots.

The only problem u may have is if the chips are BGA (Ball Grid Array). These are the chips with out the legs (TSOP). It doesn't say in the auction which they are though lol. And I have been out of the chip business too long to know what TSOP-II specs are.

If they don't work, let me know as I may have some laying around (128 or 256 that is).

I dont think ive played SOF 2 before. I just picked up a copy of the bf1942 complete collection at work the other day for 7$ though, so i might get back into playing that. BF1942 + desert combat mod = best game ever.

I gota nice dual core with a ati radon 1950 for 350 shiped

no deal. I wouldnt buy anything used for that much anyway, especially from you.
