Three boys, 8 and 9, charged with raping 11-year-old girl

i dont believe in censorship. at all. sorry. you cant even have free speech on the air waves for christs sake, because its offensive to certain people.

you have a problem with kids being exposed to ****** exposure at their friends house? heres an idea...dont let them go over there then.

and whats even funnier is all the complaints about ****** things on tv, and violence. last time i checked tv shows will follow what is trendy and popular. if you dont want more and more shows with violence and ***, then stop watching violence and *** on tv, and maybe they will stop producing it...stop the issue at its source. you only have your self to blame when you support garbage *** tv.

The problem is that you can block it at home, but you can't block it everywhere. You can take your kids into a television store and run into some uninvited ****** exposure. And your kids friends will have seen something and talk about it in school... and your kids will visit those friends houses and be exposed. The problem is that you can't lock kids in a box, and when you do... it becomes even worse when they get out of that box. They become the victim.
Umm, yes, because we all know the likes of CC, best buy and so on and so on play **** at all times of the day. That is a terrible analogy! You should have stuck with going over to your friends house, cause that I can see. However, if you teach your kids values and what not then you should be able to trust them. When it comes down to it, I don't think it is so much TV, but just bad parenting. It really is that simple.

For instance I used to be huge into the gaming from way back in the day when I used a joystick and had to turn channels on my TV by getting up to do so. I played anything from Pac-man, Qubert and all those old school games. Now I still play games on the xbox 360 from GTA to sporting games and 1st person shooter games. Does that mean I am gonna go from trying to eat people to shooting them? No, its called sense and the values that are instilled by your parents. Again I say it is really that simple.

this shit is actually quite common, just not in our country or more modern countries. Heack even in most european countries there is less censorship on regular tv. Do thing like this happen yea. But it isnt common. Go to some countries in Africa, this shit happens alot and they dont even have tv's. But also look at their enviorment too. You are never going to stop this, it just happens. One incident cannot be blamed on tv.

I know plenty of chicks growing up back home where their parents severely restrticted what they watched (IE: no MTV, no cable at all really besides the friggn weather channel) and as soon as they got to college they were out stripping, or calling **** number's from my apartment's phone (I was pretty pissed about that one, $300 bill from a mormon chick!)

So I think there is alot of blame to go around. Does it matter? nah, shit like this will always happen.

well back in the old days when the life expectancy was 30 years old, people where having kids at 11 and 12. So technically this is not a "new" development. Fcked up though.

Censorship can come back and bite you in the *** if your not careful. I only believe in censoring the major things (big *** scenes, very violent crimes, etc.). A much better solution, mentioned in this thread, is to let them watch and EXPLAIN everything that is going on at a young age.

My brother censored everything from his kids at a young age, when he finally realized the side effects it was too late. They are still pretty young, but they are VERY curious when something comes on and he doesn't let them watch it. Imagine when they get older, and all parental censorship is gone, what if their curiosity leads them to do the very thing that my brother was shielding them from?

Think about it...

I never said it was ****... its in the innuendos... Transformers was a big movie and especially geared towards children... how many ****** innuendos can you find in the movie? "I'll end up being a 40 year old virgin" "Were you masturbating?" etc. With games, you said you grew up playing older games that weren't as realistic. The army had a commercial that used a game as a gimmick depicting two guys playing an army game and then asking the question, "do you want to do it in real life?" It has a lot to do with parental discretion, but that type of exposure was not happening when you were at that age. So you can hardly compare the two.

I don't know how my comments were misconstrued as a call for censorship. There's a big difference between censorship and responsibility. My problem is that the mediums in which these types of expressions occur are geared towards children. Sometimes the entertainment is portrayed as acceptable so much that it plays into the later adolescent sentiment that parents just don't understand the change in time. How many people remember when the year suddenly became the argument for why an action is acceptable? "C'mon, it's the 90s." "C'mon its the 2000's." Those arguments aren't directed at children; those are the arguments fostered by children that believe parents don't understand (and fashion experts.)
