I jus upgraded my sound in my car, well I thought I did but ok here's what's happening, I have pioneers front and back wired to audiotek 1000 watt amp ( which sound really good ). well I grabbed a set of polk db 6.5 speakers and built a pod in the rear of my car and wired them to the rear speakers. long story short, my music doesn't sound any louder at all, and I know polk dbs can get loud. would buying a 5 channel or 2nd amp be the appropriate way to handle this issue

Could be out of phase (a +/- backwards).

Or it could just be that you were expecting to double your loudness, and you got no where near that so what you hear sounds worse to you than it really is.

Adding a 3rd pair of speakers and not much add'l power is not going to yield much in terms of loudness.

Not sure which amp you have, but a "1000 watt" autotek 4 ch probably isn't a very powerful amp to start with.

The ata1000.4 for example has a 30 amp fuse. It is likely no more than 300w rms total at minimum impedance or 75x4 at 2 ohms. I'm guessing you had four 4 ohm speakers probably getting ~50w rms to each.

Adding the 3rd pair would drop two channels to 2 ohms getting you ~75w per channel, or ~35-40w to each of the 4 speakers.

So 4 speakers at ~200w

vs 6 speakers at 250w is going to gain you MAYBE 2 db -- something in the range of one more click on the volume knob.
