Those of you upset with Comcast

Ok, I work for comcast. Started back in september.

I do high-speed and digital voice technical support. Call center rep.

I hear a lot of forums and people worrying about Comcast limiting bandwidth and/or blocking access to bit torrent, etc.

What i found out:

- Comcast does not block specific web sites and/or programs and/or limit them in any way.

- Comcast DOES have an acceptable use / excessive use policy.

Since i'm at work right now, if one of you can give this number a call and see if you can find any information out regarding actual limits in numbers (i cant call right now) when it comes to monthly bandwidth allowance.

I dont think they'll give out a specific number. What I've been reading on the net so far is they give you a call if you get near or reach the magic number, but (supposedly) dont just cut your service... just do a google search and see... I think the most common number I've seen so far is 200gb....which is plenty even when downloading quite a few movies per month.

 
Dealing with Comcast 'customer service' and 'tech support' was one of the worst experiences I've had with a business in my life.

depends on your situation i guess,
ive had comcast for 10 years, and now that i work for them = free cable, free internet, and good pay.

free access to a gym too.

pwned.

Umm Comcast just opened a call center here in CT and they are paying 11.00/hr.. Might be good if you are still living with mom and dad but not anything you could live off.

Will you also be singing Comcast praises when they close down your call center and ship your call center job over to some camel jockey name Mahamood Asafari over in New Dehli?

 
Not trying to bash you just saying you are a basic level one tech (Yes, Ma'am can you please reboot your cable modem) and you probably don't know jack shit about what really goes no there except what is handled at your level (read above)

actually, i know a fair bit because training was 4 weeks.

it's a lot more in depth than just resetting things. we were trained on a lot more.

i make 13.50 an hour starting, a grand every 4 months as a bonus as long as you meet your goals, once you move to level 2 to you get a mandatory $500 cash, shift differentials, free cable tv all channels, free hi speed inet, free gym access, etc.

once i get some senority i plan on moving to our LMC/ATS group who handles our actual network. at that point, my pay will go up.. a lot.

and next time you attempt to tell me what i know and what i don't know, at least have some evidence at hand showing my ignorance.

i can live off of what i make, but not on my own..hell no. i'm going on 21.. i work with guys who are 26+. i'm the youngest here, and i have no schooling background like 90% of these employees. i pwned the interview.
