Those dang Chinese, beating everyone else to the punch!

The Chinese are innovative? LAWL? They are the single largest importer of stolen intellectual property in the world. But oh, some Chinese company put a USB port on the front of a head unit, the balance of world power is shifting!
Its not that putting data ports/plugs on the front of h/u's is such an amazing idea, its more of a ridiculously stupid thing that companies haven't been doing it sooner.

The Chinese did it in 2006, they offered more features than anyone and they made it cheaper than even the junk from outfits like Boss. Show me a HU that plays DVD's, CD's, memory cards and has an USB port for under $100. Heck, show me any at any price. Unless those HU's totally mangle the output, these HU's should be making some serious inroads into the mobile audio market.

I was looking around at other HU's that used memory cards and had USB. The prices were double or more and none of them had DVD capability. One of them didn't even have a frickin' tuner...LOL!

This is just the first wave from China for up-to-date high tech audio. The scary thing is what happens when they get good? If you are too young to remember what happened with Japan, when I was a kid, Made In Japan meant plasticky junk that cost very little. 10 years later people started to see some quality stuff come out of Japan and the cheap image receded. By the 1980's Made In Japan meant it was the Best On The Whole Dang Planet.

Let 1.3 BILLION Chinese wind up to throw a pitch and once they get it going, if you think we're in trouble now with the cheap Chinese stuff, just wait until it's cheap and GOOD. They already have a better cellular network than ours in terms of dropped calls. They are building more new freeways than anyone in the world. At the start of this decade, one quarter of all the world's construction cranes were in Shanghai. That's a Real Big City, around 30 MILLION people. Imagine almost all of California in one city...LOL!

So if you want to say something, say something along the lines of "Duck!" or "We'd better get it going as of yesterday!" before we get steamrolled in the next couple of decades. This kind of uber-bargain for a HU is just the tip of the iceberg of what awaits the entire rest of the world.
