This would be interesting, and quite benneficial too. I would say go for it. Make it a little easier as well as more personal.

If nothing else, for the time being- we can create a chat room through AIM or MSN-etc, and then make a post inviting users to the room and list the login information.

I got two shellservers who arent doing anything atm but both are connected to 2.5gbit uplinks.

If you really want to (and I think you should) I will donate 1 server to caraudio.com to run the chatnetwork on, I would suggest using a strapped down version of a mirc server

If you want it then say so and i'll make one online for you, altho you should consider that i'm not willing to maintain the IRC server (will maintain server OS just not applicatoin on it) so you should find somebody who will.

think the idea is good

i would be happy with some kinda of java chatroom....beastyle what are doing with servers conected so fast just sitting there, you could be making some green renting them or having some kind of small web hosting company.

chatrooms would be so efficient. help people w/ their problems faster insteda waiting for people to reply, say if they need an answer ASAP or so.

a chat room would be cool but if some one asked a question and no one who was on knew the answer then he would have to post the question to the board anyway. plus i am already on this site way too much according to my girlfriend. just imagine if i was able to chat.. lol!

on talkcity they used to have one..hell would be easy to do on a chat program like excite or visualplaces, there we have avatars with an identity ....pal talk has voice chat but i think it costs to open and maintain a room...back in the day when vp (virtual places) was with excite you could have just gotten an angelfire room and had one all for free. same thing caan be done with visualplaces but its hard to get the software since its old virtual places software owned by halsoft now(which they charge you)........

I used to work for avalonhill chat network back in 1999. It started in 1997 and lasted for 3 years. It had 6 servers connected, and had a normal user base of 500+(daily). I was one of 3 network admins. If this site decides to use the IRCd, I could easily run the server for you. Let me know what you think!

The servers used to be part of clanbase quake network (gameservers) but indeed arent doing anything at this time.

I've worked for redhat (linux supplier) for cracking known services and releasing bugreports towards them, in return I now do security for some smaller providers who give me free **** in return, like shellsservers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Anyway, if servers are needed i'm more then willing to supply free of any charges so just let me know

I will setup a chatserver to serve caraudio.com, the construction to get into the chat is through a program called mIRC meaning the chat runs outside the caraudio page but I think this is a benefit because we will not have idiotic refresh rates and waiting times.

The adress for the server can be anything.caraudio.com depending on who's the master of this site (audiolife?). The normal way is that the webmaster of this site requests a vhost to point to a shellserver's IP, I will give the IP to whoever is in charge.

The server would need to have operators (operators controll the chatservers population and can kick people off for being jerks and ****), I would be an operator but rather not be because I dont have the time to really do the job.

Advertising that is done on this site can be copied into textual advertising on the chatserver, ofcourse all is free of charge from my side. It will take me a couple of days to set the thing up but I think somebody with a voice (webmasters) should give this a go or no go. Noted for later its easy to add a default applet which allows webusers to use a html version to chat on the server.

Basically said: I can set it up, I can make it work and keep it working but i cannot maintain population... for that you should appoint some persons
