pioneerpimp, if you were a true animal rights activist, you would know that hunting deer is GOOD for them. You would realize that they are over popluated by nature and the weak ones would starve to death if it were not for humans thinning the herds.

And before you go ape sh!t and say I am some crazy gun toting nut job, I have never even shot a gun or been hunting before. In fact, I love all things in nature. I respect hunters that hunt for food. I do not care for the guys who hunt simply for a trophy. I think that is questionable.

Think of it this way, every canivorous animal eats other animals. Sharks eat us when we let them. Same goes for lions and tigers. Are they any more evil because they eat a human? What about when a lion eats a zebra? Is that wrong? Lions are bigger, faster, and stronger than humans. We are just smarter. Seems like a stacked deck to me.

DH here is a doe that I had almost walk right up to me a few weeks ago while I was on the trail near my house here in Toledo. I go jogging in the mornings on the weekends on this trail next to the river here. I usually see anywhere from 4 to 8 deer. I have only ever seen one buck, a 6 point. He is young but the only male I have seen in the area. All the others I have seen are 3 or 4 does and some fawns.

BTW, this is not a very good photo, I only had my phone with me.

You never shoot a deer in the head. Not only do you risk putting the deer through a lot of pain and having a huge mess on your hands, but you ruin the trophy if it's a nice buck.

And for pioneer pimp, you need to grow some balls and stop being such a wuss. The meat and fish you eat everyday was breathing at one point. The way those animals are killed is generally far less humane than a well placed shot through a lung. No real hunter hunts solely for sport. They don't just shoot the deer and let the carcass rot. They eat the meat too. Just because there are easier ways to get meat and hunters actually enjoy themselves doesn't make hunting evil.

Hunting seems so pointless to me besides for population control(sorry deerhunt)

maybe im just to much of a hippie to appreciate it.

although deer meat is delicious.
