This is what happens when you exceed the interior pressure rating of a vehicle...

Hmm....
Now the largest auto manufacture in the world....

The whole sticky gas peddle thing the....well we see that was nothing....

They hold their value better than any US car manufacture....

Have less problems per 100 cars than any US manufacture....

And did not need a bail out from their government to stay afloat...

Now lets be real, you and I both know that no car manufacturer uses caulk to hold body parts on.
You must have not looked at enough new cars to realize theyre held together with spot welds and body caulk or sealer.

You must not have looked at enough older cars to see that they too are held together by many spot welds as well.

There are NO parts that are just held together by caulk or sealer. The caulk and sealer are used to help prevent rattles from vibrations and air leaks. Every car, including the classics use caulks and sealers to help with this.

(ps, I am an engineer and tech for a major car company so I do know how they are built from the ground up)

Lots of misinformation in this thread.....

Acetylene is a relatively heavy gas. It burns black soot when you light it and smells really bad. I don't know how the guy couldn't smell it, its worse than propane smell. When combined with oxygen (the green tank), it burns very hot, up to 3000F degrees or more. The cabin probably filled with gas from the leaking cylinder and he blow it with the switch...... As soon as the gas hit the outside air, it would be very hot....probably singed some stuff nearby. I can't see the thread anymore.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Toyota, GM and many other manufactures use Automotive Adhesive to hold body panels on vehicles these days. Usually made out of epoxy or urethane. Even back in '95 the Camaro Z28 had glued on fenders. Some structural items are still spot welded. Some use a mixture of spot welds and sealant. The move in general is going to a 100% glued assembly. The testing has shown that a 'properly applied' glue joint can withstand more sheer and has more tinsel strength than a welded joint.

I'm still old school so I have my MIG welder and gas torches and still will until the day I die. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ya bro.....asked but never accepted or took one.....as it turned out that they did not need it. Just like Ford, they were going to ask but as it turned out, they did not need one.

As for Toyota gluing any metal body part on, find me ONE that is just GLUED on. Some of the plastic panels, yes but no fenders, quarters and so on.

If they didnt need one then why did they ask?

Never hurts to ask, you might just get something free. If you see a person handing out something free, you usually pick one up even if you dont need it at the moment right?
Not if I dont need it. Besides they wouldnt get anything for free, they would have had to pay it back.

i want to know how did he get enough volume from 1 acetylene tank to fill the cab then pressurize it, hell ten tanks couldnt pressurize the cab to the point of a rupture that big. and id stand to believe that the pressure would find a way out of the vehicle before even building up a pressure over 80lbs. no car is100% sealed otherwise the windshield defrost would pressurize the cab.
