INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A Fellsmere resident ordered two sausage biscuits and all of the money in the cash register at gunpoint early Tuesday morning while in the drive-through at a local fast-food chain, sheriff's officials allege.
But Darrell Cruce Jr. didn't get any of the items he allegedly requested. Instead, he received a free ride to the Indian River County Jail.

Cruce, 23, of the 100 block of North Pine Street in Fellsmere, was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with felony robbery.
A cashier at the McDonald's restaurant near County Road 512 and Interstate 95 told deputies she was taking breakfast orders at the drive-through window when a man, later identified as Cruce, drove up in a pickup truck and requested the food shortly after 5 a.m.
When she told him the total, deputies allege Cruce pointed a rifle at her and said, "Give me the money," according to the arrest affidavit. The cashier ran away from the window without giving him anything and called 911, the affidavit stated.
Fellsmere police officers quickly found a vehicle matching the description given by the cashier and attempted to stop it. Cruce, who was in the vehicle, was apprehended after he pulled into a home on North Pine Street, according to the affidavit.
Officers allege they found the rifle and 13 cents in the vehicle.
Cruce admitted to police he was just at McDonald's and ordered breakfast, but said he didn't try to hold up the restaurant, the affidavit stated. He said the cashier panicked when she saw the gun, according to the affidavit.
He was held without bond Tuesday and is scheduled to have his first appearance today.
