Why do people always hae to go and try and ruin shit?Im sure christmas wasnt just the birth of christ, and halloween has something crazy behind it to, who gives a ****, what it stands for today is togetherness, with friends and family, and lots and lots of good food.. just eat your **** turkey and be happy

Christmas wasn't the birth of Christ. I am sure that everyone here has heard of Emperor Constantine, his vision, and Christianity's mark that was left on Western Civilization through him. Emperor Constantine was the first emperor to tolerate Christianity in his part of the Roman empire, then became a Chrsitian himself, and after taking over the whole empire, he declared Chrsitianity the official religion. Dec. 25 was actually a day that was put in place in honor of the sun god or something like that, one of the pagan gods of the Romans. It was basically the biggest day of the year in honor of a god. So he changed Dec. 25 to the celebration of the birth of Christ.

This might not be 100% right, but it is pretty close or it is what I remember from reading stuff.

I think it was really sometime in October. Dec. 25th is a Pagan holiday, forgot which one exactly.

Actually if you truly did your research you would find this to be false. And though thanksgiving was already celebrated before any of these happenings. The killings did happen...but it wasn't revolved around thanksgiving. The indian tribes and the English who came over did get togehter make peace and make a treaty with each other. After that though I won't lie, it was all down hill for the Indians

ive known about that for awhile know, its horrible what was done. The thing that i really hate is that schools lie to the youth instead of telling them the truth, i understand that when there young you cant tell teh whole truth but when people hit a certain age they need to know what really happened.I dont celebrate thanksigiving i celbrate the gathering of famly and freinds and shitton of good food for us all to enjoy.
