CHICAGO (Nov. 29) - Even though employees at the Peer Bearing Co. no longer work for the Spungen family that recently sold the Waukegan-based ball bearings maker, they still received a turkey each this Thanksgiving in keeping with tradition.

But even better was the gift that came in mid-September, when the Spungens threw a party to celebrate the company's acquisition by a Swedish company.

They gave away $6.6 million in year-end bonuses to Peer's 230 employees, decided by a formula based on each worker's years of service.

The grocery store I work at gives yearly $100 bonuses to all of it's employees and a free turkey between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sure it's only $100, but it goes a long way for a work force of mostly all college kids, lol.

the company i work for does this every year also hell the owner of our company went to fill up hi corvette one da when gas was well over $4 a gallon and then came to work and gave everyone a .42 an hour raise because gas prices its great i love where i work

few years back when I was an hourly employee without a company car, I got a lot of raises when the gas prices were jumping around.. Like 1.00/hr every time too.... Then again, I have a pretty kewl boss and nice company to work for.

were actually in a hiring freeze right now but shit the best part is i get a turkey or ham every year and a bonus which seein i have been there for over 3 years should be about 1500. my only complaints would be only 2 weeks paid vac, only 6 paid holidays, and the mandatory 48 hour work week. but the 100% prescription plan and health care make up for that

I guess I'm just sensitive because I've been waiting for a raise now for a couple months..Kewl

ahhhhh i see i hope you get your raise very soon maybe you should showyour boss your work on yahoo answers thats gotta be worth some big bucks lol

for the past 4 yrs our company has given out turkeys on thanksgiving and hams and wine on xmas...then they'd take 10% of the profits and break it up for all employees that have been with the company for more then a full year, which came out to be about $900 a person. not to mention the xmas party with raffle style give-away and free drinks and food.

Now we've merged with another company and we don't get jack shit...
