Thinking of upgrading(?) to alpine type-r 10 from RE12

I keep seeing how dirt cheep alpine type-r's are going for on ebay, and I wanted to get one. Currently I have an RE12 in a 1.8cuft 26hz box with 250-300w (dependant on actual output of the amp). I was curious if swaping with the alpine type-r (different box of course) would increase spl with the same amount of power.

Let me hear what you guys think.

maybe try putting that sub in a new box and tune higher then 26 hz.

just buy a 12" type r and tune to 32

upgrade would be good, u'd love it. but try a diff box 1st and u would need lil more power than wha u have/

I'd say Build the box that you WOULD have given a Type-R 12, hopefully bigger then what u have, and tuned higher, 30-32hzish.

Try the RE 12 in there.

If you don't like, THEN buy the Type-R 12, leave the 10 alone.

BUT you'd STILL have to upgrade that AMP, inorder to see the true advantage of upgrading.

Thanks for the replys, I think that I will probably just build a new box and see how the RE12 likes it for the time being. The reason why I was thinking the Type R 10 is because it has a lower rms then the 12.

If I decide to upgrade to the R, I will probably buy a 700w amp.

Yeah, Im thinking of maybe just going for a SE 12", since I would be upgrading my amp anyways.
