Got the new HU installed...new components in the doors, new amp neatly installed under the passenger seat, all wires run cleanly through the conduits, power through )) welding cable to the battery post. Got the new sub installed...new amp under back seat. Took a while to get it all dialed in since I've never done HiFi before. Used a pioneer mic to set the speaker timing and got it all centered on the stage in front of me. Learned a lot. Over this past weekend I finally got it fine tuned the way I want it and man was I enjoying the new setup. Got the timing so dialed in I felt like I was sitting in the drum setup (like I was playing thew drums) and all the vocals and guitars in front of me. (Sub is right behind me so you can imagine how it makes you feel like you're sitting in the percussion section)
I have had a problem with my ignition for almost a year now. Have to jiggle the kay to get it to turn. Last night I picked up a new ignition cylinder on the way home. Since you have to turn it to the start position to remove it I figured I'd disconnect the battery terminals so the engine is not running the while time I am re-keying the new cylinder.
Got in the truck this morning and the new stereo sounds like complete garbage! Lost all the settings. The only thing that was retained was the preset stations. So if Pioneer can set their HUs to retain the radio stations, why can't they set it to retain all the settings? grrr....
So now I'm wondering if their is some way to solve this to retain the settings when power is lost. I'm going to do some welding on the frame this weekend which means I'll need to disconnect the battery again.
