Thicker vs Thinner DC?

will a thinner dustcap on a sub sound louder than a thicker one? does it matter? i want to paint over it, will there be a problem?

depending on how thin a cap is, it reduces the rigidity of the cone, and can have some resonance..

as stated before.. mms will be altered either direction..

anyone knows is spray painting the dustcap will cause some paint to leak through?

A paper dust cap my need to be sealed first to ensure a good finish, and a plastic one will need a plastic primer, but the added weight from the paint is a non-issue with subs.
