thermal shut down

Yeah you need a new amp. If you have to turn the gain up to 90, you dont have enough power. Get a dtr or audiopipe 1500-2k and bang.

thanks bro im gona wait tell i get some extra$$ and get one of those audiopipe 1800d . i really want a audioque 2200d but well see. i turned the gain down befor it sounds better but not as loud but i dont wana mess up my amp.thanks

Seriously man, you have no clue as to what the gain knob actually does. It is NOT a direct 1 to 1 relationship with out how much power you get out of the amp, max gain does NOT mean max power, it's possible to get max power out of your amp with the gain at 1% if you have high enough input voltage. The gain is there to match the input voltage, which in this case is your HU's pre-out voltage. Not every HU is the same so they have to allow the end user to adjust it. Having a 2V input requires more amplification then an 8V input, but if you have your gain set higher then it needs to be, it's going to clip the hell out of the signal, resulting in a lot of extra heat, and in the long term it will destroy something. Now regardless of how hard you think your driving your subs, set your **** gains the right way.
i know its to match the voltage from the deck lol. i got the amp from some one and they told me i could run it close to wide open if need b. i did for a month with no issue. then one night my amp turned off so i checked all my grounds the next day. there was no issue so i backed off the gain a tad and it did it a gain. so i lowered the bass from my deck 0 to -2 and it still did it. so today i just cut the gain down even more but left my deck setings back at flat. thanks

maybe the reason it was fine for first month was because you hadnt had time to damage it. now its dying slow death due to 90% full tilt. Do your self a favor and not listen to the guy who told you that it was fine to run THAT amp full tilt.

set it to about 12 oclock and see if it still shuts off. you dont have to have everything set to flat either.

your problem is you want more volume out of an amp that wasnt made to do what you want.

your other problem is your not taking people's advice when they are obviously more knowledgeable about it than you or you wouldnt have asked the question.
