When I was playing my subs just below the max i have the gains set for ie i set them at 21 and i was playing at 18, they started to smell, could this be caused by them sitting in the sun for a bit therefore already being hot. And before you ask no its not clipping, yes i know how to set the gains, no im not a dumbass. And i dont have pics of your mom or your sister to post with this thread im sorry

**** suckers, i play it at 18 all the time and have never had an issue but i parked in the sun yesterday and on my way home i could smell them, i just turned it down but would the vcs already being hot from sitting in the sun cause this?

Nah it wouldn't make much difference at all because it's only heating the cone and cap. The Coil is still in the shade and won't be affected much. What subs do you have and what amp?
