No idea why Beat, but that was funny as hell yesterday, the way you asked and all, I'm just weird, ignore me, I'm having a bad day

Nope.

I'm here. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

For my part of the convo - about the RS fellas...

I went to one of our local Radio Shacks here because I needed some speaker wire and some .25" female spade terminals to hook up these Polk components to test 'em.

So, I walk in the door and that annoying as crap door dinger goes off and both of the guys working there look towards me (there were no other customers in the place)

The younger of the two walks toward me and says, "How may we help you today?"

I tell 'em, "I'm easy today, guy ~ all I need is some 14 or 16 gauge speaker wire and some 1/4" female spade terminals."

I kid you not this is what happened next:

He looks me in the eye, blinks a couple of times looking utterly lost and says (I swear to God this is what he said), "And, umm...those are for what, exactly?"

I tell him not to bother as I both knew what I was after and where in his store it was located but thanks for playing anyway.

I got what I was after, paid, and left.

How do these people get jobs in electronics retail, Beat?!?

RadioShack.....

a) doesn't care

b) pays to little to have people with REAL technical knowledge

c) has a TERRIBLE training program for the sales people

d) doesn't care

That being said..... if someone in my store didn't know within the first week where speaker wire was..... which is very close to spades, then they are gonna get a *****in' out.

Well, I don't know how long this guy's been working there.

It's likely been six months or better since I went in there as it isn't particularly convenient for me if that's the only place I'm going. I happened to have gone by the 'rents house that afternoon, though, so I was on that end of town.

This particular store seems to have an inordinately high staff turnover, though, as it is never the same people from one time going in there to the next.

You may join our conversation.

I think our topic should be...... what should the course of action be for Iraq?

I'll start off by saying..... the greater good was done by the administration pulling a tyrant out of his powerful position. My evidence for this is the 10s of thousands of bodies found in mass burials.

I will also say that people should stop *****ing about the death toll. the ammount of soldiers lost in almost 6 years can be called nothing less than a military sucess. Compare the current number (almost 5,000) with the 58,152 names on the vietnam memorial wall (generally a 12 year span).

.....but I do think we need to be done. Or begin a phasing out of our presence in teh next 4-5 years. They are having a civil war, the Sunis are wanting control while the sheites want it. Then you have the Kurds salivating over the prospect of taking it all for themselves..... it's a mess!
