Well, the Marantz was $3,000 new in '01, and the Arcam was $1,200 in '98. A lot of that difference is in build quality. The Marantz just sounds smoother to me. The Arcam probably has better bass definition, but it doesn't have the smooth midrange that the Marantz does.
