Mecca teen killed when ATV collides with bus

An all terrain vehicle driver who was killed Monday afternoon when he collided with a school bus has been identified as a Mecca teenager.

Guadencio Manuel Arismendi-Torres, 17, collided with the bus at the intersection of Bay Drive and Vanderveer Road in North Shore at 1:55 p.m. He was pronounced dead at 4:50 p.m. at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, the Riverside County Coroner said.

Arismendi-Torres was broadsided by the bus after he failed to yield at a stop sign, the coroner's report said.

There were no reports of injuries to anyone on the school bus, the California Highway Patrol said.
