I had been sayin it all along. Pretty much everyone on this forum has run in and gets ****ed with by cops, I didnt understand why you wanted to be one. Same thing with my friend now, Im not sure why he wants to be a cop so bad.

NYPD lost my respect many, many years ago when my family was up there on vacation and an NYPD officer looked my dad right in the eye and said, "Yanno? Youse guys talk funny." (The use of "youse" makes me wonder if he originated in Jersey but whatever...)

My sister looked right back at ole boy and said, "No, sir, where we come from you talk funny. We simply talk where everything we say can actually be understood."

Well, if it's normal vernacular for the area then any given individual from that area isn't going to see it as being out of place.

No and it grates my nerves whenever I hear anyone else pronounce it that way.

I do however, when speaking in reference to The Crescent City, say 'Nawlins' on occasion.

And I call Baton Rouge 'Red Stick' as that is the loose translation of the French it's derived from.

Fried catfish (as well as most any other food source that tastes good battered and deep-fried) isn't as much a food as it is a religion here.

Louisiana is largely covered by various bodies of water (lakes and rivers freggin' everywhere) so fishing is somewhat of a permanent hobby for the majority of Louisiana natives.
