THE Thread

I never heard that it wasn't, I just never heard there was coverage for Canada at all.. Until recently, Alpine never mentioned Canadian coverage, just USA East and West.. All I ever read was that coverage for Canada was limited to major centers, more like a reference for tourists who happen to be travelling this far north rather than for residents..

And hopefully the 851 is compatible with the latest map discs.. If not, I suppose you could always flog it back on eBay.. Picking one up is going to be the only way to find out for sure, since I don't think you will find the answers you are looking for otherwise..

Teebone, just keep hounding him for a refund and don't take no for an answer.. Keep posting in that thread stating that you will accept nothing less than a full refund.. He can't do anything about your install labor, but at least cover the cost of the faulty alt.. That's all I can suggest.. Good luck bro..

I'm sure there is Canadian coverage, I thought about it, and they DO sell the nav units up here, so it must be decent otherwise nobody would buy them.

And yeah, hopefully it works with the latest nav disc, the unit is a couple years old, but hopefully that don't matter

You know what would be nice Cory? If I could navigate through the file listing on my iPod with the remote, I hate having to do it with the deck controls
Speaking of which, how do you like the iPod adapter? All the reading I've done on the W200 and the full-speed interface has been nothing but praise.. The only one complaint I've heard is that you can't search by genre, but I could set up playlists for that, so it's a non-issue.. Everybody keeps going on about how easy it is to navigate the iPod and how they can select any tune they want in seconds.. Try doing that with the old adapter.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

It's not bad. Now that I've figure out the whole search by artists thing it's a little better, but I'm still trying to figure out how to efficiently navigate the system, like to search by artist and then by album. It's just a matter of sitting down for a bit while I'm parked and playing with it. It would be REALLY REALLY REALLY nice if I could use the remote to navigate through the menus when I'm in list mode though. Searching is a bit slow too, but that's something I can deal with, or could deal with a lot better if I could use the remote.

I couldn't use the remote on my D310 either.. All I did was hit M.I.X. ALL, and start hitting >>| on the songs I didn't like.. Not exactly ideal, but at least it sounded good and got me away from the scratchy CDs.. I'm so looking forward to actually being able to control it and pick songs that I want to hear, when I want to hear them.. I didn't really like having ppl in my car and them asking to hear a particular song, and me having to tell them that I couldn't do that.. Le ghey, indeed..
