As soon as I found out 'Villian was not only in the service (this being back when I first joined the forum) but was also actively deployed to the Middle Eastern theatre I told him he was instantly my hero if for no other reason than the fact that he volunteered to go do things to make my lazy ass safer.

Me too.I'm an Army brat, myself, so I have nothing but mad respect for all the troops ~ regardless of what branch they are in or what exactly they do. Dad was in the Reserves for over 30 years and retired as a full-bird colonel. 3 tours of 'Nam FTL.. but at least he came home even though that was before I was born.

Had I not had my eye put out at age 7 most likely I would have enlisted as well.
