same thing happened to my dad. His eye is still bruised, and he is blind in that eye.

My dad always told me the story of when he was little. He was walking home from school with some friends, just happened to look up after hearing a rattle in a pine tree above him, and received a dropping pine needle right in his eye. He said it stuck in about 2 mm into his eye. It wasn't in the retina though, it dropped into the surrounding white part. His eyesight is fine today though, pretty lucky if you ask me.
