Usually unplugging and plugging then resetting settings works for me. For the router. For a card I just unplug it and plug it back in.

still awaiting the interview but of course it has only been a day
off to bed

it's not a router, it's connected directly to the modem

go to control panel - system - hard - device manager go to the properties of your network card.

Im goign throught the steps to make sure I give the directions right

ok. after that, go to network adapters, open that tree right click on your hardware, mines broadcom or some shit. properties, go to the advance tab go to flow control. If its on auto detect, change it to 10mb full.

after that disable and enable the connection.

i checked that on this computer and i did not find a flow control?

When you clicked properties for your card the window popped up right? click on the advanced tab on that, thats where flow control should be. In the box below whatever all the words say. Theres like 4 or 5 choices. Also if that doesnt work, unplug the router power for a few seconds and plug it back in.
