Question? Am I doing any damage to my car by letting it idle for hours at a time? Sometimes it's up to 8 hours or more in a stretch.. Also, I've noticed my volts at idle are around 13.8-14.0 now instead of 14.8 like it used to be.. Is that a sign my battery is dying?

I didn't plan mine, either, friend. When my wife and I "met" that fateful day in a chatroom I wasn't long out of a pretty bad breakup and to tell the truth had little use for the fairer *** at that particular point in my life.
She just blindsided me I reckon would be a good way to put it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
I guess things like this do happen when you least expect it.. Like I said, I made a conscious decision NOT to get hooked up anytime soon since I've had a few bad experiences lately and really wanted to be free to do whatever this summer (read: be a dirty s-lut), but now from out of nowhere this happens.. When I WAS looking a while ago, I had no luck at all.. Go figger..

Idling for extended periods on a gasoline motor isn't recommended //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Diesels don't care but gas engines aren't particularly thrilled with the idea. What is the reason for an 8 hour idling period, if I may ask?

Could be battery or Alternator.

Do you have any info on why it isn't recommended? My car still runs fine, I don't notice anything different at all.. I'm just curious if I COULD be doing any long-term damage.. I check my gauges regularly to make sure everything is good while it's idling, which it is.. I think it would be a good idea to change the plugs more often than normal, but other than that, is there anything else I should watch for?

Actually, now that I think about it, it may not be near so much of an issue with today's cars as it once was. Back in the days before everything was fuel injected and V8 motors still had big, honkin' carbeurators (sp?) sitting on top of their iron intakes extended idle periods would cause a bad carbon buildup.

Now that everything is computer-controlled it may not be nearly as big of a deal.

On a different note:

Most of us that peruse the offerings on eBay regularly are likely familiar with the seller 'justonemoreamp', right? Always has some pretty nice gear that would usually sell for over average market value? His account got suspended! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif I wonder why?
