THE Thread

Digital Subscriber Line, or DSL, is a family of technologies that provide digital data transmission over the wires used in the "last mile" of a local telephone network. Typically, the download speed of DSL ranges from 128 kilobits per second (kbit/s) to 24,000 kbit/s depending on DSL technology and service level implemented. Upload speed is lower than download speed for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) and equal to download speed for Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL). All DSL is half duplex, which can make DSL less suitable than fully bi-directional alternatives for applications, like telephony, that are time sensitive and require simultaneous bi-directional communication.

directway from direct tv is dsl but it goes through a sat. on my roof. i dunno but im out in the boondocks and its all i can get besides dial up
naw they just call that dsl for the stupid consumers who wont know the difference between satellite and true DSL...fast is fast...and more people have heard of DSL...so they just call their sat service DSL....

rain really shouldnt impact it though...i mean it doesn't impact the TV reception does it?

Nope. No subscription.

And for GPS, I recommend Garmin... if you can find one that does what you need...

I deal/sell/see/play with them on an almost daily basis...
