if there isn't enough surface contact between the adapter and the amp's input, there will be arcs going on in the connection. if the adapter is a pretty snug fit before you run the set screw in(on the amp) then it would be ok.

Yeah it was pretty snug and the adapter is a semicircle, screw sits perfectly on the flat top and the round half fits nicely in the terminal, at least the ones I used.
