man, examine those hairdoos

NEWS FLASH: when doing big 3 your ground to engine block. it is not ok to leave this wire stock untill you can go and get a metric socket set. the wire will burn faster than a albino bunny in an oven.

for some reason the battery had current going to it no matter waht we did. i think it may be because the cd player isnt wired to the ignition its just wired so that it will play weather the car is on or not. we ended up blowing up a phoenix gold battery terminal. it was quite a show

?

Did you disconnect the negative wire from the battery first, like you're supposed to?

That way, you remove the potential to short things out...

what we did was unhook everything and removed all the stock wiring. but this car was odd so we did battery pos to started and then from the starter to the alt. then we did neg to chassy and then we didnt have the right size socket and it was really late so we left ground to engine block with stock wire. when we tryed starting the car it wouldnt start. we were stumped untill we realized that the pos terminal needs fuses so we add fuses and it works fine untill we shut off the car and the fuses blow. so were all out of fuses what about bridging it with some wire untill we can get fuses. well that didnt work wire went POOF! so ok we put a stock terminal back on and connect it it keeps arcin when im trying to connect the pos and then it stick to the batt terminal and the stock ground goes up in smoke and you can see the wire insulation splitting and burning which was quite awesome. but thats where i stoped.

You've got issues.

1. The positive wire doesn't need fuses to work - it just needs fuses to protect it from a short.

2. The fuses shouldn't blow unless there was a short in the wire - that's telling you something.

3. Never, never, never, never! (can we repeat that again? Never!) bridge a fuse with a piece of wire, "just to get it to work". That little thing is telling you something - it's saying that you've got other problems to deal with first! I have heard of countless cases where a minor problem was made worse by someone "just trying to get it to work" and bridging a fuse.
