How long does the battery last? I did a quick search and some people are telling me that it dies quickly...

Not that I've noticed. I've used it on drywall, wallboard, and some other things around the house(got it as a gift, can't really use it in my line of work)and it goes right back on the charger when I'm done. You have to have a steady hand with it though, because it will wander around. I got a second battery with it too, it was bought back when lowes had them on sale with a free battery.
