I see a lot of SPL stuff going on, not too much SQ. Thought Id make a thread dedicated to helping with imaging, sound stage, EQing, Time allignment, and anything else SQ related.

I will start with the questions...

I would like to raise my mid-bass sound stage. It there a way to raise up the soundstage without fabricating a new mounting location. My speakers are off axis in my doors, my only thoughts would be to try and get them closer on axis. Any help would be appriciated.

Ahem...

Try creating a angled baffle. At least at a 45 degree angle directed up towards the drivers ear. Helped a bunch on my mids. And the usual have you deadened the door yet?

The angle is what I was thinking...Yes the doors are well deadened.

have you tried reversing the phase/polarity of the mids? Sometimes that helps....particularly if the tweeters are a good distance from them...

Thats what i did...helped my midbass tremendously, even though my new components wont fit in them:crap: i might try to modify them on down the road. Ill try and get some pics later.

They are fairly close to each other.

I was wondering about 3-way setups. If no one picks up my JL's i'm going to remake the kickpanels for them and try again.

I know there has to be seperate chambers for the 4" and 6.5" but should i seperate the tweet from them too?

No. The tweets are in their own respected enclosures. You can put then in the same enclosure as a mid-bass speaker.

If someone is planning to use the factory door location (lower kick), then where is the preferred tweeter location? I have to choice of upper door, or A pillar.
