Ok, I'm the OP in the "8's vs 10's...worried about low end" thread and have given up hope on it. Theres 33 pages of arguing and nothing is really gettin accomplished. Yes, there is A LOT of information in there, most of it over my head, but I've come to a conclusion. I've decided to go with 3 DD 1508's ported to around 32-34hz. Yes, its goign to be hard to cram the appropriate box, along with a nine.1 and a nine.4 in a Dakota Quad Cab, but we'll see how it goes. My question is, what would be the appropriate size ported box for these and how many square inches of port should I have? I'm hoping for a loud sq setup, not spl by any means, and want to make sure the low end is somewhat decent.

You'd be better off tuning it at 40hz...It will play lower..than 40hz...That is just where the box peaks...with 3 shareing a common chamber you can go 2.5 cu ft ...Make your port length 16" long...and a 40" vent opening....You'll be happy with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing - tune higher. Tuning that low 1) will take up a lot of space in the form of port volume and 2) be rather low for DD subs, especially DD 8s. 40 hz will sound okay, maybe 36-38 for the best.
