The Official Hillary-Is-A-Stupid-***** Thread

The real reson I dont want her to win is because since 1980 (when Bush sr. became VP) we'll have had either a Bush or a Clinton in the White House for 28 years.

Add another 8 (if she wins twice) and that will be 36 years between these two families.

We need someone new, not more of the same.

Good enough reason for me, this isn't England.

Here is a list of her goals from her site.... most, if not all of them make me cringe.

  • 1) Make health care affordable and accessible to every American.
  • 2) Reduce the cost of energy and make us energy independent.
  • 3) Expand access to affordable, high-quality child care.
  • 4) Make college more affordable.
  • 5) Protect families from predatory lenders and help them avoid foreclosures.
  • 6) Increase the minimum wage.
  • 7) Create good jobs with good wages to expand the middle class.
  • 8) Balance the federal budget so we don't pass today's massive debts to the next generation.
  • 9) Reward savings, protect pensions, and provide greater retirement security.

1. Universal healthcare. Great. That means that the government will have hospitals' and drug companies' nuts in a vise. Either that, or we will pay a shit ton more taxes to pay for old peoples' drugs. So, the government will be exercising a pretty hefty amount of control over those industries... steps towards communism.

yeah, since the police, fire department, my school system and my local library are all cans of trash, there is no way the government could control healthcare.

canada, england, gautemala, mexico all have free healthcare, and the only one of those places with a higher tax margin is canada, being 3% higher.

2. Much easier said than done. That will be a giant investment.... and all the corn in America couldn't power our cars. And if the corn goes to ethanol, what about things like animal feed? It'll get more expensive, thus making meat more expensive, as well as every other food that has corn in it ie. stuff with high fructose corn syurup... (basically anything sweet...)

soon enough there wont be anymore oil. the first computer made wasn't a dual core 5030gb beast, you have to start somewhere, this corn oil technology needs to be researched and researched and they will make it more efficient. i'll trade soda that makes americans rediculously overwieght for a more reliable source of fuel, more dollars to american farmers that have been getting the shaft since the slaves were freed.

3. Money out of my pocket that shouldnt be coming out of it. Why is it the government's responsibility to pay for childcare?! What will they do while they're at government childcare? Clinton Youth?

i dont know what the plan is here, i am definately not for childcare, people shouldn't be having kids if they cant take care of them, or afford to place them in childcare.

4. Again, money out of my pocket that the government has NO business spending.

there is alot of profit in the school industry, if colleges were made non-profit, it'd be cheaper, and the government wouldn't spend any money.

5. So basically, make it okay for people to run up credit card debt and then not have to pay for it? Great idea.

she wants to make laws against adjustable rate mortgages, one of the reasons for our failing economy, nobody has extra money becuase thier mortgage that used to be 650 a month is now 1800 dollars, these aren't exaggerated numbers.

6. When the McDonald's manager has to pay pizza-face another dollar an hour, the big mac will cost more. Pizza-face, with an extra dollar in his pocket will have to pay extra for groceries and other items because Mr. Walmart manager has to pay his stockers, cashiers, baggers, greeters, and whatnot more money. Simple economics. I think minimum wage should increase with inflation, and that's about it...i think we should lower the minumum wage, who the hell works for this rate anyway?

7. That should be easy because everyone knows that the president has direct control over the job market. That's a promise she can't control, much less keep. Her campaign includes that just to make ignorant people vote for her.

i agree with you here, 100%

8. Yeah, pretty much everyone wants to do that regardless of party. Real unique.

except the current one in office?

9. How will you do those? More taxes outta my paycheck, which I don't want coming out of my paycheck.

So, all I get out of her campaign promises is:

I'm saying these things to make people happy. They'll be really happy when they see how much tax is being taken out of their checks to finance old peoples' drugs, child care for that 16 y/o with 2 kids, Billy's college education, and grandpa Cletus' retirement. I'll make more jobs. No clue how, but I'll do it!

drugs dont cost as much as we pay for them, it's a business here unlike the rest of the world. my guitarist is from france, he flies there every summer for a checkup and the doctor is free, then he goes to get his prescription which is also free because he is unemployed, if he were employed the co-pay is 5 dollars, for any drug, any glasses, any cast for a broken arm so on and so forth.

Put more money in the hands of the people! The government has no business in most of these things!

i wish this were a fesible plan. i would love to keep my paycheck. but i have to pay 450 dollars a month in healthcare alone, for me, a single guy, under 26, that doesn't smoke or do anything dangerous. 200$ under an entire paycheck each month.

if we follow the formula other nations have used, even ****ing guatemala, we could make all those goals obtainable, and still lower taxes. we need to stop fighting other peoples wars. we're like the new inmate in prison itching for confrontation. that is soo barbaric. if the nation of america was a person in america, it would be arrested. so why is this acceptable for our nation to be soo far out of line with the rest of the world?
my reply is in bold

america's taxes.

34% + fuel tax, + 1000 other little taxes.

http://www.doingbusiness.org/ExploreTopics/PayingTaxes/Details.aspx?economyid=197

france's taxes

40-42% no other bullshit, one time charge, no state tax, no sales tax, no 18 cent gas tax.

http://www.doingbusiness.org/ExploreTopics/PayingTaxes/Details.aspx?economyid=70

canada's taxes

13% if you make under 300k a year. 12% state taxes, no fuel taxes.

http://www.doingbusiness.org/ExploreTopics/PayingTaxes/Details.aspx?economyid=35

japan's taxes

34% if you choose to get the healthcare, 30% without.

http://www.doingbusiness.org/ExploreTopics/PayingTaxes/Details.aspx?economyid=98

guatemala's taxes

12%, and they pull it together for free health care. 31% for corporations though.

http://www.doingbusiness.org/ExploreTopics/PayingTaxes/Details.aspx?economyid=81

even russia has free health insurance. 14% taxes, and 24% for businesses.

http://www.doingbusiness.org/ExploreTopics/PayingTaxes/Details.aspx?economyid=159

korea has free health insurance.

http://www.doingbusiness.org/ExploreTopics/PayingTaxes/Details.aspx?economyid=104

anyone seeing a pattern here, the entire world, countries you might think of as worse off than us, are getting ahead, were we sleeping? i think not. but 2008 is probably the best time to make a change in the right direction.

the roman empire barely made it to 800 years, and it was one of the most powerful civilizations known to man.. we're coming up on 232 years, if we dont get things together, history has definately taught that revolution/destruction is eminent.

I wonder how many politicians subscribe to this idea?
probably all of them, it's in the constitution.

thats why we had different drinking/smoking ages for the longest time, and we still have different *** laws, different ages for ****** consent. and hot topic's now, abortion, and gay marriage.

i think it's a keeper.

a joyriding 13 year old kid in new york 2200 miles away shouldn't effect the driving age of farmtown usa where ole' mcdonald needs his 13 year old son to drive into town to pick up hay and feed.

there are alot of laws that need to be passed locally that wouldn't effect the rest of the country.

Because of the nightmares THIS gave me!

HOLY FUCK

You make good points.
The main reason I don't want the government in healthcare, too, is that it's not the government's job, according to the 10th amendment. In fact, most government programs aren't. I'm not much of a big government guy, though.

well, with the way the rest of the world is going, it is defiantely heading that direction, i dont think hilary could wave her hand and cripple kabillions of dollars of health insurance companies, but hopefully she could take some profit out of it, or something. it would be way more than an 8 year attempt to change to a free healthcare based system. i guess all i really want is for my premiums to go down, it is insane what i pay each month, and i am sure i am not alone.

I don't see much of a future in ethanol beyond being a gas additive. Yes, it is renewable and whatnot, but it just doesn't have the potential to make us independent of middle-eastern oil. I think the true solution lies in the most plentiful element in the universe: hydrogen.

well actually, the first internal combustion engines ran on ethanol because it burned cleaner to keep the engine running longer, and was higher in octane, but gasoline was more readily available, so they modified the engines to run on gasoline. i agree 500% that hydrogen would be best again, with canada http://www.gasworld.com/news.php?a=1763 they are already running buses on hydrogen. and i saw a commercial for bmw earlier today for a hydrogen car "ready for the world, as soon as the world is ready" again though, it needs more research, and a completely different type of refueling station from what we're used to here in america now... so at least for the time being, because of that reason, i dont see that technology moving out of the fleet vehicle sector.

Yes, there is a problem with the variable rate mortgages... we've been discussing it in macroecon class... many of these loans were what are known as "NINJA loans" (No income, no job, approved) So basically, the banks f'd themselves in the a by giving out loans that people can't pay. I think that, while it's a big drag to the economy now, that banks will learn that this is bad practice...

i agree, they probably will learn their lesson, but for the time being, WTF. i dont think at all hilary wants to let people off the hook on credit cards, or anything like that.

I used to support Bush, but the longer he's in office, the more I dislike him.

i didn't like him, then 9/11, and he was cool, then he said we're going to war in afganistan to get osama, and i guess that's cool, then we're going to iraq to get saddam.... wtf bomb. sure, i am not inviting saddam over for dinner, but bro, what does he have to do with anything.... i am still waiting on my weapons of mass destruction. smells like vietnam... but worse because nobody is on our side.

blah blah, responses in bold

And I like Japan's idea of optional healthcare.
yeah, right, first the toyota now this. what will they think of next.

i indeed do.

if our gov't came out with thier own healthcare for even 10 dollars less than what i have now, as long as it's quality would be the same as my firedepartment, police, and schools, i would sign up right away, and the more people that signed up, the cheaper and cheaper it would get.

this would be a good way to push us towards the free health care, while still having the alternative of sticking with your current healthcare provider.

and unlike my ****ing health insurance, it would come out before my income taxes. so i dont have to pay income taxes on health insurance anymore.
