For my own knowledge why did you buy a unit that only plays SACD and cd's only? I mean is it a price thing or is it quality or something? I'm just wondering I don't know much about SACD.

It's a quality and price thing. To have a truly universal player of like quality you'd need an outboard power supply with transformers dedicated for video, analog audio, transport, and digital stages. Then you would need seperate boards for digital to analog conversion. One for dolby and DTS, one for SACD, one for redbook cd, and since no one manufactures Pacific Microsonic's chip for HDCD you would need a software decoder, which is probably 3 or 4 ICs. This same 3 or 4 chips could probably decode mp3 cds as well.

The problem with all of this is that you get a lot of extra crap going on, requiring extra sheilding, or extra outboard boxes to keep the signal quality at it's best......which gets very expensive.
